Exotic Pet Surrender Event set for September 12th in Menasha, Wisconsin
Do you have an exotic pet that you are no longer able to care for? If so, bring your pet to the Habitattitude Exotic Pet Surrender Event on September 12th between 12 PM and 3 PM at the Heckrodt Wetlands Reserve located at 1305 Plank Rd, Menasha, WI 54952. Area organizations will be accepting fish, reptiles, pet birds, small mammals, and aquarium plants –no questions asked.
In some areas, there are no rehoming options for exotic animals such as fish, birds, and reptiles. Some pet owners that are unable to care for their pet may think that releasing the animal is the right thing to do, however, releasing a pet is harmful for the animal and the environment.
This event brings together a collection of area rehoming partners that provide responsible alternatives to release for exotic pet owners who are no longer able to care for their pets. J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue (JRAAR) is hosting the September 12th event with help from several other area organizations including MToxins Venom Lab, K&R Small Animal Sanctuary, Madison Area Herpetological Society, Just Pets, Fox-Wolf Watershed Alliance, Winnebago Waterways, and University of Wisconsin Sea Grant/Water Resources Institutes.
